The Habits You Have at Work That Can Damage Your Teeth

Posted .

As you go throughout the day completing tasks and work projects, you most likely participate in habits that can damage your teeth and gums. These habits are often mindless and they might even seem safe, but they’re not. It’s best to avoid the bad work habits that harm your smile. Our dentist, Dr. James Meyer, encourages you to avoid doing the following things:

-Using your teeth as tools. When you use your teeth as tools, like to open a package or rip off a tag, the pressure can chip and break the teeth.

-Chewing on pens and pencils. When you chew on pens and pencils, the pressure can fracture the tooth enamel and make you prone to even bigger fractures in the future.

-Sipping on your drink throughout the day. Sipping on your drink constantly exposes the teeth to sugar and acid. This can promote tooth decay and enamel erosion, which are two harmful dental issues.

-Smoking. Smoking can cause many dental problems, like tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, oral cancer, and more.

-Forgetting your toothbrush at home. If you don’t have a toothbrush at work, you can’t brush after lunch. It’s best to brush after lunch to maintain a clean and healthy smile.
